Hi what foundations would be recomended for a containter that is used for storage only = is it enought to put it straight on a graded pad, or is it recommended to have footings and/or a concrete slab. Thanks in advance for replies Smile

i would reccomend to first examine the area of where you want the container. is it in an area that gets a lot of rain, is it dry. concrete for a base may be your best solution. wooden post willl eventually rot over time.

Thanks for the reply, may consider using some concrete footing slabs.

Concrete slab? That's a bit of an overkill!
The great thing about containers is that they are designed to support themsleves on their 4 corners. That means they only needs 4 solid piers!
My 20 ft containers are sitting on 230mm pads (2 bricks) which is not enough (one side sank in wet weather so it took me an hour or so to jack it up level again. It all depends on your soil conditions, but I reckon 500mm square should handle soft soils OK.
Remember - you can easily level it again later if you need.
